DIY Homemade Dog Treats – Spring Flower Treats

Flowers? For spring? You bet! Our certified canine nutritionist has whipped up an easy homemade healthy dog treat recipe that you can DIY for your favorite four-legged-friends to celebrate the season.

Homemade Flower Dog Treat Ingredients:

Required Prep Supplies

  • One large mixing bowl
  • Multiple small mixing bowls
  • Silicone flower molds (or whatever shape you prefer!)
  • Paper towels
  • Parchment paper
  • Chilled plate
  • Small, clean paint brush
  • Storage containers for pet food only — do not cross-contaminate in storage containers meant for food for human consumption

Recipe Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix nut butter, meat, and flour together. Adjust ingredient amounts as needed to reach a cookie dough consistency.
  2. Pack “dough” into silicon molds and freeze.
  3. Gently melt coconut oil in various small bowls. Add colored powdered mix-ins such as turmeric, ceylon cinnamon, blue spirulina, etc. Each ingredient will produce a different color, so choose whichever mix-ins/colors you’d like.
  4. Thoroughly combine the colored powders and the melted coconut oil.
  5. Remove silicone molds from freezer. Pop the frozen flower treats out of the mold.
  6. Dip each cold treats in the colored oil. Let any excess oil drip off onto a paper towel and place the newly colored treats on a chilled plate lined with parchment paper.
  7. “Paint” any desired floral details on each treat with colored coconut oil and a clean paintbrush.
  8. These treats are good for 2-3 days refrigerated. For long-term storage, keep frozen.
