Sardines are a reliable natural source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosatetraenoic acid (EPA), two essential omega-3 fatty acids that dogs do not produce on their own. EPA and DHA support brain development in young puppies and promote a healthy skin and coat in all pets. Feeding your pets whole prey provides enrichment and strengthens their jaws. Love that whole sardines are offered, just wish they came how they used to. I never used to have the issue of a solid fish block. I have to thaw them out and then refreeze them on cookie sheets so that they aren’t all sticking together. I now have a seemingly permanent piece of sardine fin stuck in my thumb from trying to get them apart…
